› Managing IT Projects Virtually and Globally
This workshop focuses on the successful implementation of offshore software projects with respect to management, technical interactions and project monitoring. Participants move beyond the basics to apply more sophisticated project management techniques geared toward offshore projects. We will establish appropriate technology and processes to enable global collaboration, coordination and communications by interactively addressing the issues of bridging cultural differences, organizing the work and fostering effective work relationships. Plus, you’ll learn to integrate offshore teamwork products and effectively apply escalation management. This 2-day workshop is for those responsible for effective team collaboration in an offshore internal or external environment. We recommend some experience with project concepts.
Course Objectives
- Explore the nature and success criteria of any offshore project
- Enhance virtual team collaboration by addressing cultural preferences, leveraging technology, improving processes and monitoring adaptation
- Assess the impact of an offshore contract, statement of work or service level agreement when managing an offshore project
- Apply project management techniques and "best practices" that will help effectively manage and control an offshore vendor or development team
- Analyze different alternatives on how work could be more effectively distributed
- Manage interface touch-points or hand-offs between offshore project sub-teams by proactively developing the right team structure and quality acceptability for project and product deliverables.
